Welcome to our office. It is our pleasure to have
you as our patient. As friendly as we dentists like to think we
are, studies prove that coming to visit us doesn’t top many
peoples’ list of “favorite things to do.” The good news is that
local anesthetics and current technology can take care of the
physical discomforts of dental treatment, while we in the office
can provide you with a number of suggestions to ease any mental
anxiety you may have. Here are some tips that can help you relax
naturally before and during your visit.
Set aside a stress-free time for your appointment. Don’t try
to squeeze it in – between other meetings you’re rushing to get
to.
Avoid taking any stimulants. Coffee or cola for instance – before
your appointment. The last thing you need is for the caffeine to
kick in just as you’re sitting into the dental chair.
Discuss your concerns with us before we start working on your
mouth. You can suggest a signal, such as raising your hand, if you
feel any discomfort or if you’d like to have a break.
Bring a Discman or an Ipod and listen to your favorite CD or
music to help distract you from the noise of the dental office.
Use deep breathing exercises and visualization techniques to
picture yourself relaxed. Try progressive muscle relaxation or
other relaxation methods taught in yoga.
Don’t be afraid to discuss your fears and anxieties with us. It
is estimated that 30
to 40 million Canadians are so fearful of going to the dentist that
they simply avoid going - sometimes compounding any dental problems
they do have until it becomes an emergency situation. Our dental
team is here to help you have a positive dental experience and we
welcome talking to you about your individual situation in order to
make your visit as comfortable as possible.
We will be requesting payment at the time of services. This payment
can be cash, debit, cheque, or major credit card. Regarding
patients that have insurance coverage, we will submit your dental
claims for you. Payment from your dental insurance carrier will go
directly to you
Did you know?
Some dental benefits are changing rapidly with many reductions
in your coverage.
Dental benefit companies do not inform dental offices of change
to your policy
Benefit coverage is a contract between yourself, the insurance
company and your employer, not the dentist.
We suggest that you get updated information from your insurance
company before making your dental appointments ( and we would be
pleased to help you further understand your benefit coverage)
Ultimately, you are responsible for paying the dentist for
treatments and your benefits plan will reimburse you.
Some dental benefits usually do not cover 100% of your
dentistry.
Coverage, in some cases is being reduced drastically, due to
companies cutting their costs. This means that many necessary
treatments may no longer be covered by your plan.
We encouraged our patients to know this plan, in order to
eliminate
disappointments with payments and reimbursements
Facts about the changes in Dental Benefits
Some companies offer 100% coverage based on 1994 (or earlier)
fees. We have to charge current fees, which may be higher than the
average dental benefit plan.
Our fees are based on our clinical expertise, quality of care and
materials.
We would be please to complete a pre-authorization (or
Pre-Determination) to send to your insurance company for
confirmation of your coverage. This will enable you to plan your
finances before starting with treatment and we would be happy to
discuss fees and payment options with you.
We diagnose the condition of your mouth, your dental needs and
offers a
treatment plan that will best suit your needs.
If you have any questions, our team members are all qualified to
assist you. Please bring in your benefit book so that we can assist
you efficiently.
Our office requires 48 hours notice of appointment cancellation
otherwise a $50.00 charge will be applied to your account and no
further appointment will be scheduled until this amount is paid.
Your appointment is reserved for you only; therefore it is our
strict policy for you to keep it.
As your dental professionals, we pride ourselves in providing the
highest quality dental care for you and your family in a relaxing
and comfortable environment.
Our extensive dental training and experience allows us to
